Flip up or tilt bed floors?

Looking for some ideas. I would like to flip up the back portion of my bed floor to access air ride components while also keeping it somewhat stock looking, 67 stepside.

Re: Flip up or tilt bed floors?

I have looked at that idea before. You need a way to make a link on the rear of the bed to allow it to move the entire bed aft about 10-12 inches while it raises up. What I call a sloppy link would work. This way it clears the cab. To raise the bed found a few electric cylinders with enough power to raise the bed. Another thing to solve would be what height you would want. Do a search there are a few S-10's done that way. Another idea would be to raise the bed from side. But think it would contact the tire.

Re: Flip up or tilt bed floors?

I think you misread the post, only want to raise the floor..... like flip open the rear few feet.

But thanks for the response.

Re: Flip up or tilt bed floors?

My son and I (mostly me) are working on a 70 chopped and channeled step side project and have plans to do a liftable floor. Details are not completely worked out yet, but the plan is to use a piano style hinge at the front of the floor, DZUS style fasteners at the rear and air cylinders for support. The floor is not part of the support structure for the bed, So it could be considered free floating. The bed has also been narrowed so we didn't need to tub it. The floor will be a sheet of 3/4 inch oak plywood with cherry inlay

That sounds like it would work out good, and am honore that I am your first post.
