That's cool do you have a heavy looking spring and a large flat washer? And yes the small one goes in the top and the big one goes in the bottom.

No heavy spring or large washer. BTW I have not removed the original 3 on the tree yet. I think what I am going to do is remove that and see if the parts you have mentioned are in there. If so then I will go ahead and do it.

Yeah, that would be your best bet to do that. And it would save money if the three speed shaft will work, just remember EXACTLY how it was assembled!!! Also if it does work I would pack the top and bottom bearings with grease and clean everything up real well.

Yep I got some grease here. I will let you know how it goes. Like I said I will pull the other one first and see whats what. BTW How many bolts on the engine side of the column do you have to remove? I only saw 2. Then there is the wiring on the column that needs to be disconnected and what about the backup lights? I got a new switch for those. Where do I plug them in?

Oh yeah, also you need the turnsignal contact it's a round black plastic piece with a metal contact around one side and a shaft sticking out with a metal rod looking thing in it, but your three speed should have the part.

Got the turnsignal piece and the shift lever. Those will be going on after the paint dries.

Ok, bolts you have one on the pinch collar that connects the upper shaft and lower, then the linkage bolts, then three on the plate that's bolted to the firewall and one pipe clamp that holds the column to the outside bracket, then on the inside you will have to remove the 4 bolts from the flat plate with the pedal stops for your brake and clutch pedals, under that there is two bolts attached to a U-shaped bracket and last there is two more holding a oval shaped bracket that holds the column seal to the firewall. So that's 15 I can think of. As far as the backup lights go they should hook to your neutral safety switch on the column, it should have two sets of terminals on it one for the backup lights and the other for the neutral safety wires.

Yeah there is quite a few!!! Also you will have to remove a bulb and holder from the dash and insert the white fixture with the fiber optic cable in it's place.
