85 305 with a 84 distributor....

Does the white plug go on the right hand side or left hand side when installing on the HEI cap?

The white plug (which usually has a pink wire) plugs into the "BAT" terminal slot which is off to the right with the "snout" on the HEI cap facing towards you.

That white plug should also have an index bump on it that will prevent it from being accidentally inserted into the "TACH" terminal slot.
