Looking to buy a C/K 4x4 and have a question

I'm planning to look at a 81 4x4 Silverado. The truck is advertised as all original and super clean. The seller told me it was spotless and a 4x4. All he could send was 2 crummy pictures though. So I was planning to take the 2hr trip to see it.
One picture is the interior. Which instantly concerned me. I don't see any 4x4 shifter on the floor. I assume that means the pic is of a 2wd truck. But I'm no expert on these trucks. Do all the 81 trucks have a shifter on the floor? Or was there a different set up maybe?

I think I'm going to pass on taking the drive out to see it then. I'm not sure if the guy just don't know what he has or if its some type of scam.

Do you have any exterior pics that show the outside and the 4x4 hubs?

Re: Looking to buy a C/K 4x4 and have a question

Its a 2wd unless someone did some major part swapping. The 88 and newer trucks are the ones that had the push button 4x4 87 back had a shifter in the floor.

The angle of the picture may have hidden it because of the seat. Aren't the shifters nice and close to the seat?

Re: Looking to buy a C/K 4x4 and have a question

not that close
ask for cab mount pics,or ask him outright where's the shifter
get more pics before spending gas money

Re: Looking to buy a C/K 4x4 and have a question

depends on which transfer case it is but you should still be able to see shifter sticking up
either way should see the boot and trim for it
