Alternator help
I can't seem to find the replacement alternator for my 71c10. Truck has a 454 BB block out of a 89-90 silverado. Here is the kicker, truck has serpentine belt but auto parts can't seem to find a matching alternator for it. Either they find the right alternator with the correct plug but the then the pulley is a v-belt.. The alternator that is on right now is part# 1100264, when I go online it also has a v-belt and not the serpentine pulley. Do y'all think pulley was changed on alternator and that's why I can't find right one? Thanks for the help

Re: Alternator help
Can you compare with one that has the serpentine belt pulley to see if it's the same? Try NAPA or Carquest if you have one in your area. They seem to have more knowledgeable people that can help you out.
If you already bought it and it has the pressed on pulley, you can rent the tool at Autozone or if you think you will do it again in the future, buy the tool kit for $20-$30.

Re: Alternator help
I have that same set up (88-90) on my 76 Monte (383). I don't remember having to change the pulley as I used everything off the donor truck. But a pulley change should do the trick.

If you have an impact wrench it works a lot better if you have one otherwise any shop can do it for you.
