1987 crew cab question dually
What is all involved in switching from a 1987 chevy grill set up to a 1989-1991 set up? I have been told I will need to change the radiator support. Will the fenders have to be changed? Also can I do this switch without removeing the fenders and hood? This is a big block truck with air. If the radiator support has to be changed, are they different for air and non air trucks?

you do have to change the radiator support fenders are the same i dont think there is a difference in air non air and not sure how difficult it would be with fenders still on truck

once you have the core of ten the fenders will only need a few more bolts to come off so you might as well get on out of the way

We just did this swap on a friends truck and we did it without taking the fenders off. Just loosened them up and slid the core support out and the new one back in. Did not even take off the front bumper.

my Girlfriend swap'd one on my carhauler while I was outa town, pretty easy.
you will need the wire harness from the new core support and graft it to the exist'n wire'n harness, color's all match just some simple splice's.

Re: 1987 crew cab question dually
Don't forget to grab the piece that goes fender-to-fender that is almost behind the bumper. It is painted body color.
The headlight bezels for the 89-91 style mount to that differently than the 81-88 style. Not a big deal, but if you don't have it you will not have a place for the bottom mounting screw for the bezel.
