Wanting to put a 454 into a 67 GMC C30
I have a FI 454 TBI out of a 91 C30 square that I am thinking about putting into a 67 C30. My dilema is that I don't have a harness for it. I do have the computer though. I want to stick with the FI and am not sure who I might turn to for a wiring harness. Any ideas.

Just looking for a plug n play type of harness that will adapt from the 454 to the 67 harness. Also I am not sure how to approach the fuel pump issue. Since the tank is behind the seat is there a pump that will go into that tank. Do I need to look at mounting one on the frame somewhere or just taking the tank out and putting in another tank underneath with a pump in it.

Should be able to get a harness thru one of the companies that specialize in these swaps or LS swaps(they did TBI before they did TPI).

Painless, Howell, Street & Performance all do harness for a TBI swap. You will need a custom chip. The pump is easy you only need 15-16psi. Ive done it with a Holley blue pump with no external regulator.
If I was doing it I would put an intake and a carb on it. A good Q-jet with have more power and get better mileage than a TBI. Trust me on this I have a TBI dually. I would also put a small cam and some headers on it. It REALLY woke up mine.

My plans if everything goes my is to convert it over to a K30 using an 84 Dana60 and 14 bolt. Probably switch to an automatic as well. I don't mind the carbs but it seem like the older I get the less I want to mess with them. I guess I am getting spoiled with all the fuel injection stuff anymore. I would like to try and squeeze every mpg out of it I can though. If that is even possible. Not sure a 6.0 or 8.1L are in the budget as of now. |

Yea, that is a good statement right there. Good luck, sounds like it will be a good swap.

Can I use a good inline pump and mount on the frame and still use the factory tank. I am assuming there would be sufficient pull from the pump to get fuel out of the tank.
