Seen them on late 60s trucks, they look OK, but just OK. Never seen one on a square, cant image it would line up well at all.

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
No go. It's not "custom" just strange and screams loudly "the early 90's". 88-98 sportside beds belong on 88-98 trucks, and they look marginal on those...

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
That was my thing was the body lines on the bed matching the trucks line i tried to picture it in my head and couldnt get a good image with one on it and yea i see the 67-72 with them and to me they look awesome if my 72 was short bed i would put one on it with no second thoughts lol

When I see a mix-matched truck like that it makes me think the owner just doesnt care about his square.

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
that would be a truck wardrobe no no! the later beds dont fit or match the square bodies or the 67-72 either. keep the 88 up beds on the 88 up trucks.

To each his own on style. But if you want opinions, the majority including myself, its not a great combo.

I like it on a '67 - '72, but I'm thinkin "No" on a squarebody.

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
I never seen a GMT400 Sportside bed on a square in the real life and always wondered how they would look. I built a model like that many years ago out of a Fall-Guy kit… The two different body styles blend nicely on a 1/25 scale truck

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
i think it looks bad, when i see someone with the wrong year bed on his truck i always think "well he sure didnt look very hard or he really doesnt care about his truck"

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
Totaly agree, when people mix match the body style's it look's like they didnt care and got the first bed they could find, who ever start'd the trend of put'n em on '67/'72 was wrong ! one body line match'n does'nt mean it look's natural.

Re: 1981 C10 with a 90s model step side bed
It looks better than I had pictured, but still, no. I think the stepside beds only look decent on pre-'67 trucks(compared to the fleetside counterparts).
