Re: 94 bed on 70 stepside?

For the most part I don't like them. Not that it's not a nice looking truck. Any time you put time, effort, and money into something it's hard to say you don't like something about someone's truck.

Re: 94 bed on 70 stepside?

have seen it done several times, have not liked it yet. just doesn't work very well in my opinion. BUT, that's all it is - my opinion. If some does like it, then by all means, go for it.

Re: 94 bed on 70 stepside?

I'm not a believer in it. I wouldn't want 1/2 old truck and 1/2 newer. Always looks like someone couldn't find a good box and cheaped out to me.

JMO, no offense to those that like this sort of thing...

Re: 94 bed on 70 stepside?

i think it looks fine. I just dont think the taillights match properly and that ruins it. If you did something about those the lines on the bed look better than the original imho.

Iam with these guys, the body lines dont match up, the fenders are not even close to be shaped the same and the tail lights look out of place. Same can be said for a older model bed as well.

I personally dont like it, the fender wells arent even the same shape, ruins the look of the truck IMO.

Re: 94 bed on 70 stepside?

well i gotta say that the look isnt the greatest.my 67 came that way the po said the oe bed was shot and he looked for a while too find a better one but came across the newer bed at a steal of a deal and decided too use it.

theres a 4x4 down the road from me that has the same bed but the fellow rounded the wheel wells but didnt finish it yet and i must say its a improvement but still not the same. I really dont object too the newr bed if its done up nicely, i saw a 58-59 at a show this past summer and that one looked good it had the step eliminater kit on the rear with some other custom work done too it and really didnt look half bad but the wheel wells matched on that truck

Re: 94 bed on 70 stepside?

I am going against the majority on here. I am running a newer bed on my project not because I couldnt find a box, but because I wanted to be different. I, however, have done a lot of mods to my bed and a lot of fiberglass work. I am not done yet and I am still kicking around the idea of rounding out the wheel wells to make them match a little better. It will be a completely custom box when it is done. The unvailing will be not too far out as far as complete pics of the bed and I hope you guys like it, but at the end of the day...I didnt build my truck so that others would like it. I built it the way I wanted it and that is all that should matter.

Seen it done once really well, but the guy has about 40k into the truck and he took the time to make it work.
