Re: 84 Chevy lm7 5.3 swap

anyone know of any headers that are really tight to the engine? from what i've seen on other build threads , i'm going to have trouble with clearance when i put the motor in? and with the wiring harness, do i HAVE to get it reworked? or do people just do that to make it look neat?

Did you get the factory underhood fuseblock?

Re: 84 Chevy lm7 5.3 swap

If you also got the plugs that pluf into the bottom of the fuseblock and go inside the cab you can use the stock fuse block underhood and then only have 3 wires to hook up to make it run. Ignition, battery 12+ and fuelpump.

Check here..... http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...ng-basics.html

This is how i did my cc.

Yes the one under the hood will just control the engine.

Look at these Hedman Hedders:
http://www.brphotrods.com/mm5/mercha...ory_Code=CNV10
They are for a 2wd truck, but are short length and only come down to about the oil pan/block line. I have them on the '82 I am putting together with my son. They fit the frame rails real well. There might be a picture on his build thread in my signature.

I don't understand why I would need the dash fuse box? I'm still going to have the 84 dash, what would the dash fuse box be controlling?

Re: 84 Chevy lm7 5.3 swap

just curious....where is the under the hood fuse box on a 2003 chevy truck? I am looking at an 5.3 motor and sounds like it is important to get that box? Is there anything else to get from the truck? Thanks in advance

By the way.....nice 4x4 swap you got there!

You dont need the dash fusebox, you just need the plug that goes from the underhood fusebox to the dash fuse box. There will be one or two wires out of the plug going to the dash fuse box that you will need to feed either the fuelpump or ignition, cant remember which. Read the link that i posted it will show everything.

It's on the drivers side fender. If it's drive by wire besure and get the pedal and tac module.

Re: 84 Chevy lm7 5.3 swap

havent been on for a while, been busy moving into a new house and renovating a bathroom had to load the truck onto a dads friends trailer. wheels didn't want to turn, not getting stuck in the rear end because I couldn't move the drive shaft when it was disconnected from the rear end, so it must be in the transfer case, dot know what it could be from? all that I've done with the transfer case is disconnect the transmission from it. Luckily the trailer had a good winch and was able to pull it on. i have also put on the vss sensor for the transfer case adapter. i also ordered block hugger headers from headman, hoping they will work. the paint job was complete crap. scratched and drip marks. sandblasted them and repainted(hoping the paint will stick). problems i have now:
* Will have to modify the motor mounts(on the frame mounts) 2in forward. I dont wanna spend an extra $250 for a ac compressor relocation kit

* the hedman headers i got dont work with the spark plug wires i have, it is touching the header on one of the wires
