Saginaw speedo Gear

So I did all the calculatin' and figured out what driven gear i'll need matched to my tire size and gear ratio.

Really looking forward to fixing my speedo since it plays hell on my OCD.

Get the gear in and try to install....

The old gear 'bullet' is longer than the regular ones I'm used to so the gear I ordered won't work. Never even knew there were different bullet lengths..

Need a new bullet!

interesting.....i am also trying to fix my speedo and when fingering my transmission it seemed the gear inside the trans is closer than where the "bullet" puts the speedometer gear(hope that makes sense).......hhhmmmm

Good News: I had a buddy give me a gear bullet he had in his shop which fit perfectly and worked with the gear I had ordered.


Bad News: Speedo is still off from my GPS reading so it appears I would need to change the 'drive' gear which is the one on the shaft.

In your case, your drive gear may have come off the shaft and slid down. There should be a retaining ring to prevent that but you know how that goes. Are you working with a saginaw trans as well?

TBH i dont know....i do have 3 on the tree though
