im getting my 1989 long wheel base silverado painted . i dont have $1500 to $2000 to put into it . its not going to be a show truck any time soon , i just need a good paint job that will last. i talked to the local macco people and they told me they had a paint the had a 4 year warrenty on it and it was around $600. i have read alot of bad reviews on macco but i was wondering if anyone on here had any past dealings with maaco good or bad. thanks in advance.

Ive dealt with Maaco. It sounds like youre already aware that youre gonna be saving money for a reason. For a decent paint job on a daily driver thatll last a few years its worth it. Anymore buying the paint and supplies to do it yourself will cost you just as much.

i know nothing about painting so i will have to pay someone to do it. it has some rust on the top of the cab . do i need to address it myself or do you think they will take care of it . im asking because i know they are not going to sand it down to bare metal and i dont want the rust coming through the new paint in a year or two. thank you for the reply.

They wont do anything with rust or dents unless you pay extra. Usualy their base paint job is just a scuff and shoot. Also youll want to take off anything you can like the grill, tail lights.... They wont do the best of jobs taping things off so the more you take off the better. There are many ways to deal with rust. Google search to see which best fits your situation. Ive used vinegar, molasses, CLR and rust removal chemicals before depending on what Im dealing with.
