Hellllllllp ***** brakes
hmmm well every thing is new
7''servo with booster ,proportion valve, new lines cylinders ,callipers, can i get it to bleed can i buggery did not realise i had to bleed the servo so hooked the hoses up on the side and started pumping its air air air originally we bleed the system far side rear then worked round to the front fluid flowing but loads of big bubbles then found out i need to bleed the servo first ( lost count of cars we have built never had to bleed a servo on its own??) so spent 10/15 mins on the servo still air and a spongey pedal HELPPPPPPP in past experience i have had new servos and seals have gone but normally they wont bleed up or only rear/front will let fluid through ideas please getting fed up of this now ;( thanks Col the bleeder |

Are you bleeding the servo correctly?
You need to bleed it back into the servo. Just cracking the lines won't do it as it will draw air back in. Here's a link to a pic at the bottom of the page. JFYI over here a servo is called a master cylinder. M/C for short. http://www.legacygarage.com/prod05.htm |

Possibly bad m/c.
Did you depress the plunger in the front of the prop valve? |

The servo (master cylinder as it is called in the US) has to be bench bleed before it is installed. You will have to bleed it back into it self when doing it this way. If you do not do this on the bench, then you will never get all of the air out of it.
Check you tube or some other internet sources for the correct procedure. It is very simple but you will need to remove the servo and start over. |

I did a lot of brake work and had real issues bleeding. I did not have a proportioning valve, but had the same troubles you speak of. I tried vacuum bleeding, the one way brake bleeders, the traditional way, nothing worked. Once I hooked up a homemade pressure bleeder, it was like magic. Worked instantly, went from pedal that went all the way to the floor to a hard pedal. I used a piece of flat steel and threaded a hole through that, and used a spare master cylinder cover gasket to seal it along with a couple C clamps. Might have been easier and faster just buying one from Motive Products, but hey, it was sort of fun building and it worked, that's all that matters. |

did you make any brake lines? I used a cheapo harbor freight flare tool once and never could get the brakes bled right, replaced the line and bled right the first time.
