1999-2002 Shortbed 2wd's
Looking for ideas for a new truck I just bought. It's a 2002 C1500 standard cab SWB, 5.3L, all the bells and whistles, completely stock with exception of some later model 20" Factory Alloys and a bed liner. Oh, it also has 66k miles on it. Bought it to replace my 2011 which I am getting rid of along with my Yukon. I was looking for the following idea's.
-Headers -Cam/Valvetrain -Heads -Headlights -Tonneau cover Later on -Suspension mods (probably a static drop....or I have a E3 Air management kit that I could use).

Re: 1999-2002 Shortbed 2wd's
this is a nice kit. I have it on my 03 Tahoe and love the fit and sound. It is a little tight on the driver side drive-shaft if you have 4wd. mine barely cleared have considered dimpling to improve clearance because in really bumpy conditions i hear the header tap the drive-shaft lightly. Would definitely recommend reusing the factory exhaust manifold steel gaskets, the paper ones in the kit will leak. The factory why pipe is a pain to get out! Better have a sawzall handy you will need it. There is a whole blog on this header kit on here its called eBay Long Tube header install. Has lots of pics and videos. The number 3 cylinder plug wire may not be long enough to clear the weird hump up in the header. I used MSD plug wires with adjustable boots to clear and they also handle the heat from the header much better. I also used a billet egr blockoff to block the egr pipe on the passenger side. it just bolted right on.

Re: 1999-2002 Shortbed 2wd's
^^ good info. Although I'm not running those headers ive heard good things about them. For the egr block off I used a rubber freeze plug that you can buy from orielys for a couple bucks. I'm running a smaller cam that works good with the stock stall, it's a comp 212/218 low lift 114 lsa and love it. While you're doing the cam swap I would definitely buy better valve springs and pushrods. A good and cheap mod would also be to install a corvette servo in your transmision, I bought mine from Oregon performance for $13. As far as heads go I would try and find a used set of 243/799 heads in good condition and mill them .030" to get compression back up. And for your headlights you could buy hid kits from ddm tuning which is what I did.
