New guy from NorCal

Just picked up a 62 Fleetside longbed. I has a 350 and a 3 speed. Drives pretty good. Looking forward to slowly cleaning it up!

Pic is a little dark. I will try and take some more to share when I can.

Welcome! Your truck reminds me of my 66 C10 prior to my insanity! Enjoy and have fun with her. She looks pretty clean and straight.

Re: New guy from NorCal

Nope, not a push truck. That came off a police cruiser that my wife's grandfather put on years ago. Personally not a fan of it so it will be coming off soon.

At least it did a good job of protecting the grille. Welcome to the forum!

Re: New guy from NorCal

Welcome from a fellow '62 owner. Many give hell about the "knee knockers", but I think the way it makes the cab look like it's tilted forward is pretty cool, and if you knock your knees on them, you should likely be watching your head more, because you would have to be 12 feet tall.

Get ready for lots of frustration finding parts. Things have gotten much better over the last 10 years, but it is still difficult to find some of the things you'll want.

Re: New guy from NorCal

Thanks for the very warm welcome everyone. I can tell this is one of the good forums. I am a researcher by nature so I have already come across the "quarks" of the 62. I will probably move slowly with this project but I plan starting a build thread when I get there. In the meantime it research mode ahead!

Re: New guy from NorCal

Make sure to take a lot of "before" pictures just the way it sits. It's very frustrating years in the future when you've made so many changes and improvements only to realize there isn't anything to demonstrate how far it has progressed.
