Shaving Antenna???
Is there any way to shave the antenna and put it in another location on the truck, that it wouldn't be showing? Under dash or something??? Also, I've seen antennas for satelite radio, real short and crap, how do those work??

I have heard the under dash ones are the best bet. You also have the option of the in window ones (stink IMO) I was not pleased with my underdash one in my 92, with these newer trucks there does not see to be as much space to hide them under there like on our 67-72s. People kept bumping, kicking mine which does not help reception. Other than that it seem to pick up OK. I felt the stock one was better overall, but I was still in the Air Force then and travelling all over the states. It worked good on the coast , but when I got into the Appalcians or out west in the Rockies, not real pleased there.

I had a 95 that the antenna had been shaved and a power antenna had been put on the passenger's cab corner. Didn't look any better than stock to me. The reception sucked too.

Re: Shaving Antenna???
A few years ago I was looking over a truck at a show and he had shaved his and mounted a shorty billet one down in the forward stake pocket of the bed. He said he still got decent reception. Not a bad idea as long as you never want to use the pocket or havent shaved em

Re: Shaving Antenna???
I've heard of mounting the factory one inside the front fender, as well as the cowl area. I personally had the AutoLoc Hidden Antenna, which worked okay around town; but when I'd take a road trip home from college (or wherever), the reception wasn't as good out on the open road. It was first mounted on the upper windshield behind the rear view mirror. I ended up moving it to the edge of the driver's side A-pillar trim for better reception. This is the only pic I could find where you can actually see it fairly well:

Re: Shaving Antenna???
Put an electric antenna in the bed. Have it raise up when you need it. Or better yet extend out sideways along the bed rail.

Re: Shaving Antenna???
tuck one up UNDER the bed rail. nothing fancy, but it will be out of sight, and get decent reception.... with a little creativity you could even use the stock antenna for even better reception. No pics, I'm just brainstorming here.
