My 72 build

Hi guys, This truck has been sitting in my father in laws shop for about 10 years and I figured it was time to start doing something with it. This will be my first "nice" build as all I have done before is bush/camping trucks. Plan is to be long and low. Proper satin black paint with lime green pin stripping and lime green smoothy style wheels. Heres the start...

I made some pretty slick patches for these holes by cutting a 3/8" bolt into 1/8" plugs.

result, still needs a lil filler

Re: My 72 build

Thanks guys! I patched the other door and riped out the interior yesterday. I was very lucky to find very little rust on the drivers side floor, I will have to make a patch for that and replace the front cab mounts. I will post pictures later.

Re: My 72 build

Ok so I patched up the passenger door today making sure to mark the holes I need for the new mirrors this time instead of just welding them all up! Im pretty sure the previous owners used a shot gun to install the old mirrors

Some interior shots before I took it out

I took out the seat and carpet and I am positive that the carpet was replaced at one time as it was glued to the floor. I also found some duct tape covering up some rust... not bad though

rest of the floor

annnnd the gas tank... Im not sure why I took this picture haha

Can anyone give me an idea as to how involved it would be to do a body drop? I have found lots of information on how to drop the box but not the cab. I'm just weighing the options right now. Thanks in advance!

Re: My 72 build

3rd day in, Took out the front metal cab mounts. I botched the drivers side a lil but nothing my welder won't fix. Cut out most of the bad rust and removed the fuel tank. I have decided to relocate the tank to the rear with the filler in the side marker light, but that wont be for awhile.

Re: My 72 build

Got out to the shop this weekend. Started striping the rear of the truck in preparation for my axle flip and C notch

Kinda had a brain fart.... if I would have left the axle in for a little bit longer I wouldnt have to do this...

Axle Cleaned up ready for paint

My flip kit from DJM should be here on Wednesday So should have it all bolted back in this weekend...

Re: My 72 build

Thanks Chevy88!

Ok got back to it this weekend, and I am starting to think I need to rename this thing the might as well truck. I will explain....
Was out in the shop staring at the truck, trying to decide my next move and I started to think. "You know it would'nt take much to pull the engine, then I could really clean the firewall... might as well"

So I busted out the ole MF

So once tha was done I figured it was time to pull the glass, then I figured. "Cabs already unbolted... Might as well pull the cab".

I picked up some pipe for my C-notch

And here is how I left it...

Ill get the notch done this week some time, then its time to paint the frame!
