Im running the shaved door kit from AVS
http://www.avsontheweb.com/product.p...cat=138&page=1 Yeah its a bit more expensive than a lot of the kits on ebay but they are a better design, more reliable and ive yet to hear a bad thing about any of their products. |

I'm not too familiar with the installation of a kit. Is the locking mechanism still incorporated? Will I still have the option to lock my truck?

Why would you need to lock a door that cannot be opened w/o the remote?

I understand extra security, but if the only thing that can open your truck is the remote, having a lock cylinder wont help much, especially if the key to open the door is on the same key chain as the remote.

Honestly the door locked won't do much,Vent windows are easy to jimmy open with a screw driver or they can bust the window out of they really want in it.Most criminals are lazy if they can't just open the door they pass unless you give them a reason too.Like if you leave a gps or ipod sitting in plan sight they will bust a window then.

I have shaved doors on the 68 truck that I am putting together. We used Bear claw latches and they have their own spring assist built in. The door poppers were not needed.
