New from Mocksville, NC

My name is Nick. I grew up in California and spent my teenage years in the San Fernando Valley. I cruised Van Nuys Blvd. in the late 60's early 70's. Always been a car guy. Anyway I live in North Carolina now and do car restoration work. Mostly do metal work and fabrication. I am self employed and have a shop at my house. I worked in NASCAR for a while as a fabricator, that was many year ago. I currently own a 57 Nomad and a 65 truck I bought back in the summer. Truck is V8 Automatic, power steering, power brakes 88000 miles. Only plans for right now are to change gauge panel from idiot lights to factory gauges with tach. Truck is real nice with virtually no rust. The front fenders were patched recently and poorly done. I just got home with a pair of NOS replacements...

I cruised Van Nuys alot myself before the city shut it down. Like your truck. My truck is a 1955 Chevy. Its been down Van Nuys a couple of times. I"ve owned him since Feb 1970. Looking forward to see how your project progesses. When I figure out to post pictures I"ll put some up.

A lot of people throwing around the past tense "worked" in reference to Freightliner I know several people that work/worked there. I'm actually closer to Mocksville city limits than I am Cleveland, I just live right across the county line so I am still considered Cleveland.

Some people that worked at Freightliner referred to Hwy 70 as "The Highway To Hell"

Ha! It sure is hell during quitting time around there, those 35mph streets around Cleveland become 70mph freeways in a hurry

Re: New from Mocksville, NC

Welcome from Mooresville! We have a TON of NC guys, so your skills may get put to use from the guys you will meet on here.
Love to see the Nomad too. My dad had a daily driver '56 Nomad when I was 15, I never wanted to drive it because I was a dumb kid and looked at it as a "station wagon" He sold it for $3500 in 1993 and bought me a Chevy S10. .... yeah... cant say much more about that. I was indeed an idiot.

Also remember, We are also planning a National Chevy Truck event for June 8th in Mooresville. It will be a wrap up event for the Hot Rod Power Tour (which ends in Charlotte on June 7th) Get it on your calendar! Follow along this thread to stay tuned in:
