WTB: Bench seat adjusting rod

I'm looking for the rod that connects the adjuster on the drivers side to the passenger side of a bench seat. Anyone have one they would part with? Truck is a 69 but I *think* the seat is out of a 72. I think they are all the same (??). I could rig something up but this truck has been rigged up so bad already Im trying to do everything right. Shipping would be to 73527. Thanks

Russ

Re: WTB: Bench seat adjusting rod

For the bench seats it's actually a wire that connects the two.

A rod was used on the bucket seat DS brackets.

I am not sure which years used what but I have had bench seats with a metal rod and some with a wire.

Re: WTB: Bench seat adjusting rod

That could be, I would just use a metal wire since that's what they did on the later trucks.

Hopefully someone still has a rod if Russ wants to use that.

I may have to try that if nobody has one laying around. I was hoping to get lucky. I think I can steal the wire out of a square body 7-up truck out back that my father in law is scrapping, but figured the rod would look better blasted and painted black.

Here's an old WTB thread with a few pics

Re: WTB: Bench seat adjusting rod

I've been making new rods from braided steel cable and a small turnbuckle.
(for adjustment)
Like small garage door style cable and clips.

Re: WTB: Bench seat adjusting rod

I also need to hook up the passenger side. Could someone take some pictures of how and where the wire attaches to each side. I have the locking key fir the passenger side slider, but need to see how the wire and I'm assuming a spring attaches so both keys are moved simultaneously when the driver seat lever is disengaged.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is a thread that I posted some pics of the one in my '67 There are a few different configurations over the years but this may give you an idea how the rod fastens on the ends.

Thanks Doc....now to find the piece parts. The rod(wire) & springs can be fabbed and found, but the little gizmo that is held in place by the spring tension will be a challenge. ....guess that's why I bought the truck
May have to attempt fabricating the gizmo also

Some of the later rods are straight and do not have the "Z" bends. I will check in the morning and see if I have an extra clip & spring.

Fantastic....now to find or fab the rod. I saw the picture of the Z bent rod. Looks as if the Z acts as a spring also. Also from the photos the spring and clip are only on the drivers side...correct?
Thanks for your help Doc

No, spring & clip on both ends. The second picture in the link I posted is the drivers side and the last picture I posted is the passengers side. The springs and clips are the same on both ends. I have the clips but no springs. I can get the measurement for the springs from one of my seats though. PM me your name & address and I will send you the clips, no charge.

Clips sent.

Here is the info on the spring. I would take one of the clips with if you have to get the springs at a hardware store, just to make sure they slip over the end of the clip.
