Re: what all do i have to do to my 85 to lay frame

I would recommend a front Porterbuilt drop member, and a rear dropmember as well. It will be a raised crossmember that will allow the frame to lay. Here is a link to a truck using the front Porterbuilt dropmember. He used a 2-link rear, but same results with a Porterbuilt dropmember. The 4-link in the dropmember I prefer as it has less pinion angle change and axle movement through it's suspension cycle.

So is the front dropmember the only thing that is going to hold me up off the ground.

Re: what all do i have to do to my 85 to lay frame

Yes, the limiting factor in the front is the crossmember. You can "Z" the frame, but there are a lot of advantages going with a dropmember and not to mention the time savings. You will gain rack and pinion steering, narrowed track width, wheels center in the wheel well, better front suspension geometry, etc.....

You can still utilize your bags and shocks and can even use the factory control arms.

Re: what all do i have to do to my 85 to lay frame

The factory front crossmember hangs below the frame,With out a dropmember the front will lay control arms but won't fully lay out level with the rear.

Suicide Doors no longer makes them. I would go porterbuilt. They are the originators of the Dropmember. Best quality and service hands down.

Porterbuilt products have some of the best craftsmanship I have seen. They are very particular on the quality of their work..... you won't be disappointed.

Let me know if you need pricing, as we are a dealer for them.

Yes, you will need a rack and pinion setup. I will send over a PM with a breakdown in pricing so you can see what each individual item will cost.

The rear dropmember is the picture posted above. It is the complete rear setup. It will include the bags and shocks.

Re: what all do i have to do to my 85 to lay frame

I'm not going to knock on Suicide Doors they do make great stuff but lately the wait on stuff is way too long.I have seen a month wait for a set of control arms for a s10 lately.Porterbuilt started the raised crossmember aka dropmember and a few other have tried to copy it.If you can weld good he does offer both front and rear dropmembers as weld in cheaper.Scotts hot rod shop is another good company they have ifs kit that will lay frame and uses the stock c10 spindles.

So it gets all of the way down just will keep the front about 2 inches higher than the rear.

Here is my 86. I am running Porterbuilt forward arms with belltech 3" spindles and a 235/75R15. It's on 12" raceramps but you can get the idea. The rear suspension is their 4link with weld in notch that I cut it down to accommodate the tire size I will be running. I also made the bottom notch pieces wrap to the outside of the notches instead of just ending on the inner sections. Factory saddle tanks are just off the ground.
