How to take out bell housing?

I'm replacing my Saginaw 3 speed tranny. The input shaft is stuck to the clutch plate so I have to take the bellhousing off. I was planning to do this anyway but I want to knowbwhat I'm doing before I start unscrewing bolts. I also have another question. I was taking out my water pump and the lower drivers side bolt head busted off. I've already somewhat drilled it out. How do I re tap it? Thanks for the help!

Re: How to take out bell housing?

Unbolt the 6 or so bolts from the motor that attach the bell housing to the motor. Also make sure you disconnect the clutch arm from the linkage. If the clutch plate is stuck to the input shaft you will have to unbolt the clutch from the flywheel as well. Depending on space tools and how soon you have to put the truck back together. It might be easier to pull the motor and transmission to get it out where you can work on everything with more room.

Re: How to take out bell housing?

If your that unsure about taking it apart, get some help that has done it before, a clutch is easy to do, but can be screwed up just as easy.
