Help me shave my ass
So as the title state!!!!! Looking for tips for shaving tailgate letters.
Will bondo work to fill them or do they need to be plated and welded? |

Bondo is not for filling such massive holes. It will fail and ruin whatever paint you put on top.
They make blank tailgates in china/taiwan but I can't vouch for fitment. Your other option is metal fab/patchwork. Cut it out and weld in a flat panel. |

What about welding in some "ridges" in the letters for the bondo to grip? would this help at all? or should is cover or patch the only way to go?

There used to be a metal skin you could weld over the letter area of the tailgate to give it a smooth look. Check with some of the vendors to see if it is still available.

Try http://www.mar-k.com/Catalog/catalog.aspx they have a tail gate skin.
