Intermittant Wiper Pulse Module!!??!!
1986 Silverado. When i got the truck, no wipers, or they rarely worked. So i learn about a pulse module, which i purchase a new one (AC Delco) and install...pretty easy. Wipers work right away as does the pulse feature. Rain storm...after 5-10 min they sieze up in the middle of the winow, move some more after a minute or so, move again a bit more, i shut them off...and 2 min later they go down.
so what do i think? bad new module. so what do i do? buy a new module and send defective one back. installed new module...wipers work right away. rain storm today, all functions work well. after about 5-10 min of driving and having wipers on...they sieze up in the vertical position. then after a minute or 2 they move to half way down...i shut them off...a minute to 2 later they go down. seriously pissed right now. no, they will not repsond when they are acting like that to any setting at all. wiring harness is relativel new on both ends. wiper motor is one year old. selector switch is relatively new.....i'm on my third module and dont know where to go!!!!! |

That's a hard one. Maybe a short in the harness to the switch?

Sounds like the module is getting too hot.

I would trace the wires and make sure they haven't chaffed and have a short.

GM switches the ground to the wiper motor. Check the ground connection under the dash.

Re: Intermittant Wiper Pulse Module!!??!!
I would have told you that that is impossible. The wiper motor is only a few months old from O'Reilly's...but then i would have been wrong. It was a reman wiper motor so i took the new reman I had installed and got credit back for another reman...guess what? WORKING! sigh....

From my experience with O'Reilley's remanufactured electrical stuff it is sketchy at best. I but a lifetime warranty starter from them and replaced 4 in 2 months. What good is a warranty if you have to spend all of your time replacing something? I use NAPA parts or I have a really good electrical motor repair place that has been in business since the 1960's that I fully trust. You just never know who is rebuilding this stuff and the quality of parts that is being used!

Solved
It was the crappy reman Oreilly's wiper motor. Once I replaced it...again...it worked just fine.
