You can also get a bypass wire connector for the newer alternators

this would be your best bet.I did this with my Burb,my lights stayed brighter,it was a good conversion.

in all my years i have never heard of that magnetism trick. i wouldn't go by that.

sounds like you have a broken wire from the regulator to the alt, the alt is not being told to charge. or you have a defective part.

when i bought a engine for my truck i took the alternator and starter to a local starter rebuild shop, he asked me if I'd like it upgraded to a 1 wire, i said sure, either them work or they dont, everything including the regulator internal. it was the same price too.

I'll have to look to see what i did with the unused wires. I think i zip tied them to the wires on the regulator, the hot post is in the same place, just the regulator wires are not needed any longer.

Hi Andy...... I recently had a charging failure as well, so I took my altenator to the local Auto Zone to check and it was bad. Replaced it for about $50, but still not charging, 12.4 volts off and 12.2 running. Volt reading does not change regardless of engine rpm.. Ive heard that the stock regulator, (64 C-10), sometimes fail prematurely, so your saying that the one you have pictured will swap out for my stocker?? 76 350, 4bbl, yada, yada...

If you are running the external regulator then yes it should be a direct swap.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
