Cargo light mounting position

I'm ordering a cargo light for my 72, do any of you have a measurement to position it? Does it require any cutting to install or just a couple screw holes and one for wires? I'm going to make it a third brake light as well. Thanks!

I'm kinda hoping the aftermarket light needs no cutting! I hate cutting around my newer paint! I'll probably slip and take off some paint! Anyone buy an aftermarket cargo light? Another thing, are the repops plastic or metal?

If you do have to cut. Outline with painters tape. Will prevent scraping

I'll probably cut a template out of some 1/8" plywood and tape that on! I don't trust myself enough to use tape as a shield! Im good at this stuff but with my luck ill get too confident and destroy the back of my cab!

I'm sure you will have to cut and drill holes.

Here are the measurements...

Any idea if the ones Classic Parts, LMC and the others sell are surface mount or do they need the cab cut out in order to fit? Thanks again!

Assembly manual was a good call Leon. Here is a link that may be helpful to your install as well. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=528116

I don't think any of them are surface mount but I have never owned an after market one.

Thanks Tim. Do you have the assembly manual on CD? The nice thing about it is you can do a search in it then just copy and paste the page.
