Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

WOW! That's an awful lot of money! I'm sure glad I like pickups the way they were made and Suburbans the way they were made. I can keep my pickup how it is and buy a $15,000 Suburban and have both for that money. Well, for less because that's $15,000 for just the bare cab ready for paint. Still have to stretch the frame, driveshaft work, and interior

Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

That is a lot of moolah, but there's a LOT of fab work that has to be done also. Probably cost you at least that much from a shop at hourly rate. You only get a deal if you do it yourself

Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

And I'm not saying it's not $15,000 worth of work. Just that's a lot of money so more people can ride along sometime maybe while the rest of the time the trucks too big...and that I'm sure glad they do nothing for me. In all the years I've driven these trucks I can maybe recall a time or two when I wished I could carry more than I could. It's funny how so many people are all about a short little bed yet like bigass cabs.

Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

The 4 doors are nice for family haulers, but in reality,if I have a buddy that's into these trucks and we're crusing,he's probably gonna want to cruise his own. Also for a run to a meet or such,I enjoy seeing a convoy of trucks more than a single with 4 guys in it.

Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

I figure cars and SUVs are for hauling families. I don't care what other people drive (as long as they can park them right...in one parking space).

Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

really neat concept, but like with the tahoe conversions, you are eating through the supply of perfectly nice original suburbans because nobody wants to build a project from scrappy truck bodies.

I guess where I stand is I hate seeing Suburbans (something GM actually made) taken for granted and ruined to build a crew cab. Suburbans and Travelalls were by themselves in this era and a special thing in itself. The custom-built back in the era trucks, like you have are cool, different, and I wouldn't mind having one...although not on my short list. Those were built from necessity, not for vanity. It cracks me up how so many comment on how they didn't make them look good enough.
GM came out with the Avalanche and I thought,"Great,a Suburban with all the advantages taken away". It's great to have a crew cab shortbed and single cab longbed, all under one roof. It wasn't long after Avalanches came out that I saw one at a dealership with a (most likely expensive) special cap on the back to shelter what's in the bed. I thought,"There ya go. Now you have a Suburban"

Just so you know, he is now taking truck cabs and mating them.. I agree with the burbs being a endangered species if everyone gets on the crew train..

Re: F.Y.I crew cab chevys

if i could afford it, i would have a 69-72 crew cab long bed dually built, but it would be for hauling my pullers. it would be for a purpose not just vanity. i think its kinda cool to see a crew cab 67-72 but theyre not for eveyone.
