Nova subframe with bags
I'm looking to bag my 54 that has a nova subframe. However, I wanted to see pics if any of you have done this before. From what I understand I'll have to cut the crossmember and just wanted to get some advice before I light up the plasma cutter lol. Here's a pic of what I was sent to show what I believe needs to be done.

Re: Nova subframe with bags
not sure how close the nova and chevelle frames are but this is what i had to do to a chevelle frame to get the bags to clear. the owner had it power coated without cutting the frame first. we didn't hurt it all that bad but it's not how it should be done.

Re: Nova subframe with bags
Thanks for the pictures Parkwood. Did you use a cut off wheel? Also, how did you go about measuring to determine how much to cut away?

Re: Nova subframe with bags
Yes i used a small cut off wheel, and then cleaned up the edges with a grinder.. and the past owner installed the bags so all i had to do was push the lower a arm up to see where the bag would rub and just cut out what was needed. as you see you don't need to remove to much. as you well know the bag can't rub anything.
