Re: bb springs and sb springs ?????
Are you referring to front coils? Bbc springs hold up more weight for the bbc. If you put a bbc in a truck with sbc coils its gonna sit the front end down an inch or so. If u put a sbc in a bbc sprung truck its gonna ride kinda rough because they are a heavier duty spring.

Re: bb springs and sb springs ?????
All I can say is I put my 460 chev in my truck that had a 250 6 cyl and left the stock springs to start with. I swear it didn't move an inch.

Re: bb springs and sb springs ?????
I assume the previous owner put bb springs in my truck, it was orig. a 6 cyl truck . He had new springs in it when I bought it with a 402bb . I pulled the motor back out and had a few "secret" things done. I put everything back in along with the front clip, the truck sets up like a 4wd. I m trying to figure how much to lower it....

Re: bb springs and sb springs ?????
I have ran into this same problem or situation with cars too. Put a BBC in a SBC Camaro thinking it's going to sit on it's knees and it barely moved. I don't think it's nearly the difference we think. Think about it. 5,000 lbs truck and most of the weight is in the front half. Now add or subtract a measly 200 lbs? I realize it's probably a much bigger difference in the hauling capacity rather than the ride height.
It's probably like valve springs. Installed height and open pressures are probably very different. Last edited by prostreetC-10; 02-26-2013 at 12:07 PM. |

Re: bb springs and sb springs ?????
Factory BB front springs in a 1/2 ton are stock 3/4 ton springs. I put new 3/4 tons on mine with 1/2 a coil cut off along with 2-1/2" drop spindles. I'm about as low as I want to go with a static drop.
