Big block with drop spindles?
I have a '71 with a 402. I added drop springs a few years ago, but want to go a little lower. Are there any issues with drop springs AND spindles with a big block? It has disks and a 5 lugs, a factory 1/2 ton.
Thanks gurus Chris Last edited by Chris Binnett; 02-25-2013 at 03:09 PM. Reason: wrong tense... |

Re: Big block with drop spindles?
Also welcome from the shadows. My 70 Big Block rides on 2-1/2 drop spindles and 1/2 a coil cut off of a new stock BB spring (the same as a 3/4 ton spring). Any lower and the floor jack won't go under my crossmember.

Re: Big block with drop spindles?
Is there a lot of difference between big block springs and regular springs?

Re: Big block with drop spindles?
Hey RenoKeene,
What did you do to the rear end...your ride has a nice stance. I don't want to do anything stupid, so I'd like to follow in someone's footsteps. I don't want to notch the rear... C |

Re: Big block with drop spindles?
5" drop springs, shock relocator kit with new stock shocks and a adjustable track bar, thats it....no problems with rearend to frame contact (no notch).

Re: Big block with drop spindles?
Yes there is, in terms of spring rate. If you use a regular spring, it'll ride about an inch lower and you've used up some of your travel.
