rearend swap?
Ok my first chevy 1968 rear is in bad shape. And the 3.73 useless on the hiway.Found a kit to put late rear in.I know most would put in the 5 lug.But I would like to keep the 6 lug.The 4 wheel drive are 6 lugs are they the same width?I know most want disk breaks. But drums do work and most of the trucks that have owned where drums. Thanks

Re: rearend swap?
i wish i went with a six lug rear.. pick any newer chevy 1500.. there wider wich makes life easier when choosing wheels. and being newer most parts places will have what you need in stock.. what size tires are you running, and what kind of tranny.. most rears that are newer are 3.42 3.73 or 4.10 ratio,

Re: rearend swap?
Id imagine with all of the newer trucks having overdrive that it would be harder to find a rear with a good highway gear. Plenty of old 6lug rears floating around, I've gave one to a buddy Sunday. It never hurts to ask around in your circle of auto friends, plenty of people swapping to 5 lug.
