How low can you go with stock control arms on the front?

We recently got a 72 C10 Highlander long box truck. We're going to cut it down to a short bed, and stuff a heavy 6 cylinder in it. I haven't messed with dropping these trucks, so I'm wondering how low you can go with stock engine cross member, and stock front control arms? I tried searching, but it didn't come up with any real useful info. The plan for the rear suspension is up in the air. This is going to be a budhet build for my little bro, so throw any ideas out there guys. Thanks Ryan.

Will have some bearing on how you lower it. You should still be able to get the camber in spec with 4" spring, and 2 1/2" spindle on top of that would get you 6.5". But I would consider doing the spindle with a 2" spring which would get you 4.5" with NO alignment issues and plenty of room for tire.

I have 5.5" in the front with factory arms and x- member. I would not go any lower with a static drop. I can't slide a floor jack under my x-member. I have no alignment issues at all.

Re: How low can you go with stock control arms on the front?

Hey guys , it's funny I was looking at my build with a 2 inch drop spindle and 2 inch springs and my wheels scrape the lower when turned all the way to one side or the other . It sits on 17s . Is it safe enough to trim up the lower to clear or do I have to go to a larger wheel .
Thanks for the space .

How do you guys think the 4" drop springs will take an 1100lb engine?

24v cummins according to his sig...

You may want to get 2" big block springs and trim to taste. I hear these trucks are pretty easy to bag.

Good idea Brad. Bags would be the ideal choice. It'll be either a 12v or a 24v. Not sure which yet.

Re: How low can you go with stock control arms on the front?

you can bag the front end of a chevy truck pretty easy, if your going with that big of a motor you want to put the biggest bag you can get up front......

Re: How low can you go with stock control arms on the front?

Truck in garage is bagged on factory control arms, 2.5" drop spindles and the suicidedoors bag setup (cup and plate) Could go another 1/2" or so if you cut the cups down a bit.
