Buick wheels?
I had a guy come in today and we started talking about what i was doing to my 64 GMC as far as the 5 lug and disc brakes. He told me he had a set of wheels i needed. LOL. says he has a set of these wheels off of a 76 electra has all 5 of them. He told me they are the 5x5 bolt pattern.
So will they fit? And do you think they would look good? Has anyone ever ran them on the 60-66 trucks? Any thoughts?

Re: Buick wheels?
i would think they should fit, its the same platform as the impala, and i personally always like the factory wheels i think they would look good, and you will probably never see another truck like yours with a set on it. if their cheap enough i say go for it, put a set of 275/60's all the way around and watch the heads turn

Re: Buick wheels?
Yes, they will fit. I saw a set on a 73 C10 and I thought they looked good. They are 5 on 5, same as the 1/2 ton trucks, full size Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs & Cadillacs. You should be good to go as long as you like the looks of them on your truck.

Re: Buick wheels?
Kool good to know he was telling me right they are 5x5. I like the wheels I'm just not sure what he wants for them and how they will look. Guess I'll get to that when i get all the stuff swaped out on my truck. I have a set of 85 rally wheels i can have so i guess we will see what happens.
Thanks for the info guys. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Buick wheels?
Years ago I ran standard 1950’s era Buick wheels on the back of my truck and they fit fine.
I’ve also seen several trucks running the Buick rally wheels, but they were always the older style with the curved “spokes” and broad rim face like these: I thought I had a couple of photos showing them mounted on a 60-66 but haven't had any luck finding them. I’m not sure if the first picture posted is the wheel from a 76 Electra, or an aftermarket wheel. Good luck if you decide to give them a try and the price is right.

Re: Buick wheels?
they look real good if you change the black to a cast iron/flat gray, and then replace the center cap with a bullet, and a thin -1-2 inch whitewall.

Re: Buick wheels?
That does look cool. I wouldn't have thought of the bullet, or the light colored paint.

Re: Buick wheels?
I like the idea of the bullet and lighter color. Guess I'll have to see what he is wanting for them or if i got something to trade. If i can't get them i have a friend with a set of rallys. And i have a nother friend who thinks he may have a set of ansen wheel he thinks are the 5x5 bolt pattern. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Whatever you do, don't throw the caps away, they are hard to find.

Re: Buick wheels?
Here is what my GMC looks like as on now. but i no longer have the tag on the front and iv got the sail panel chrome on now. and the last one it how ive thought of painting it. Right now its john dear flat black and tinted primer. When i do the 5 lug conversion i plan on cuting the front coils a little. I dont have the money to get lowering spindles or lowering springs as of now so cut it it is.

Re: Buick wheels?
I can also go with either on of these wheels. A buddy of mine thinks he has a set of the ansens but he needs to make out to his family farm sometime and find them. And i would get them free same as the rallys.

Re: Buick wheels?
Please forgive me for such a sin. Completely forgot what your ride actually was. So, the centers I suggested looking cool will have to have "GMC" as the center decal.
BTW: your rendering of future looks appears to have wheels that are in the realm of those Buicks'--chrome webs vs.the black or grey. I still appreciate an original, from-the-factory wheel, with just enough of the 'new' make of vehicle somehow integrated to adapt it. Like, a GMC-blend! I like your idea of low-budget, manual alterations while you ride. Shows how a bit of manual labor can replace $$$$ that may not be available at present. As far as cutting the coils, be sure to read lotsa 'free' and good advice to get a proper cut the 1st time! Enjoy! sam |

Re: Buick wheels?
Yeah the posable future is not a for sure but i like the way it looks. I'm a ol skool rod and custom fan. That pic is out of a magazine i have. It a pretty sweet yellow chevy. So until i really decide what i want it to look like its just a thought.
