59 Apache power Brakes vacuum on 235

I am thinking of installing power brakes to my 59 Apache and was wondering if the vacuum take off from the carb inlet manifold (used to go to the wipers I presume now blocked off) will be sufficient. I have the original 235 engine still and see no other vacuum port to connect to. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I installed a CPP power disc kit on my 55 with a 235 and worked great!

Great news but to where did you connect the vacuum?

Re: 59 Apache power Brakes vacuum on 235

Welcome to the forum Krimics. I bought a new fitting for the carb and used that vacuum source for the brakes. Right now I don't have wipers as no vacuum attached. RainX works wonders and my vacuum wipers have issues anyways. Probably eventually go to power wipers. That or just put a T in the vacuum line for the wipers.

at the base of the intake just under the carb on the left panel there was a large plug that I unscrewed and adapted a brass nipple to supply vacuum.

The square nut (pipe plug) on the side of the manifold is where you install your vac. port.

Remove the plug and replace with fitting and connect your P/B hose line.

Put a upside down U in the line at the firewall that extends at least as high as the top of the carb. This will help separate gas vapor from collecting in the P/B booster.
