Instrument panel lights up but not much more

On my 66 I have an instrument panel that the only gauge that kinda works is the fuel. On a full tank the needle goes to F but towards a half tank it bounces back and forth.

I have no tach, vac or clock in the cluster, just the usual.
What steps do I need to take to check each gauge?

Check the wire where goes under door sill plate to tank. if that wire is rubbing cab it will cause a ground issue and cause guage to work funny.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check that tomorrow.
Any tips on the other gauges that are not working like the speedo and battery and temp?
