Putting the photos on a photo host and using that to post them not only allows you to post photos here pretty easily it gives you an album on your project that you can share or others can follow. If you modify, move or delete the photo on the photo host it lost on here though.
For the site it's self it's best to adjust the size of photos before attaching them to the post as the site doesn't load large photos and possibly very high resolution photos well.
