Re: The Build Begins

Thanks,Kim57.
I have a question about fuel tanks, I would like to have my fill tube come out the back or the side with out much modification. Truck is going to be a work truck and being in the bed just wont work . So if anyone has any ideas about fuel tank please respond, also need to know what tank I should use .

Re: The Build Begins

No real progress since I last posted about this build, life got in the way as it has to many in this forum.

Plans for truck have gone in many directions since the beginning, frame swap, 2 wheel drive, 4x4, a couple more frame swap ideas, etc.

Final plan 4x4 original frame 2005 dodge axles (I know track width is an issue), 2003 LQ9 6.0 aluminum block and heads, 4l60e trans, transfer case(push button 4x4 I hope). Coil over suspension all around.

Engine placement and suspension started a long way to go but making progress.

Comments and suggestions always welcome

Re: The Build Begins

since your going with the 4 wheel drive, i'm not sure why your going to 4 link in back and 3 link in front
you obviously have concerns or you wouldn't be asking

one thing about your rear coil over mounts: this is a lot of cantilever at the top bolt on the shocks
not sure that much would survive on a simple shock, definitely will fail on coil over shock
move the cross member forward to support the upper shock mount

i've never seen this type of front suspension on a truck, not saying it won't work, i'm not much on 4x4 builds
it looks very similar to a short version of the hairpin mounts used on model a and model t front axle
you might want to peruse some of the 4x4 build over on the pirate4x4.com site

Re: The Build Begins

Orrie, I don't understand it either ,however the person who built says it will work. Was designed to give a better ride not for off road. Truck will be a daily driver work truck.
