63-66 panel- suburban mounting question
it is for 63-66 GMC application only
A friend is just putting his body back on the frame and seems to be missing the body mount frame bracket that goes over the top of the rear spring frt mounting hanger. it is not like a chevy suburban brkt(as like the one in Jon's suburban build). it is not like the one from a 4 x 4 panel or suburban mounting. I did check mine and there are not the frame holes there to accept it. here is a picture of the area. I did give him a set of the chevy ones to try but they wont mount unless he cuts up the spring hanger now here is the second finding which I haven't seen or heard off, doesn't show it in the books either. The mount under the "b" pillar is different. it has a bonded rubber suspension similar to the rad support brackets that have the bonded rubber insulators between the frame and bracket. picture enclosed this is what the 4 x 4 ones look like before and after repairing the holes, these are the ones that go over the sprinh hangers thanks ron Last edited by padresag; 03-04-2013 at 06:47 PM. |

Re: 63-66 panel- suburban mounting question
interesting info!
I found this thread with a 63 gmc sub frame , it shows the style rear mounts you need, but it does not have the vulcanized center mounts... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=5196344 I saved one of the better pics, but he has a few more in the thread... there were also these pics of dinos 66 gmc sub, but he had already shaved off the mount we need and the spring hanger it does show the vulcanized center mount though...

Re: 63-66 panel- suburban mounting question
Thanks Jon; I did forward those images on. if he enlarges them he should be able to get n idea. he can;t remember ever cutting any rivets back there so doesn't know if he ever had any there,
that does seem to be a funny place for a vulcanized mount and don't know if it is that common on GMC. ron |
