Help and advice needed with 65 C20
Hi
I just got a 1965 C20.I understand it was the camper but the back is missing. It is a good looking truck considereing age.I want to start changing it.Firstly lowering it. What is the lowest I can take it with just coils? Will that change stance and handling I am in South Africa,so parts is a bit hard to come by.What coils can I use? I would love to take it down 4-5 inches later this year if possible. Any advice and help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Help and advice needed with 65 C20
First of all. welcome to the board!
You can buy coils up to 3" of drop, but you can save money and cut your stock coils. Each winding of the coil will give you between 1.5 and 2" of drop. I wouldn't cut more than 1 or 1.5 coils because if you cut any more, the ride will be terrible. For a nice ride and a good stance, I recommend 1 cut coil and a pair of drop spindles. Close to a 5" drop with very little geometry change. One thing to remember when you lower these trucks: the biggest issue is the ground clearance between the lower control arms and the pavement. Use the Search feature of this site, and you will find literally dozens and dozens of threads concentrating on nothing but suspension. It's great reading!

Re: Help and advice needed with 65 C20
Ok,I have decided now that I want to slam the truck and get it into daily driver condition.
I understand that there are bolt on kits for 2.5 lowering spindles and then the lowered coils. Where can I find out if it will work on my C20 as everything seems to be for the C10s. Can someone send me some links for past threads as I can't really find in depth detail of what I want to do.Thanks guys! |
