Edelbrock Carbs...1407 vs 1901 Differences?
Talking about carbs...What's the difference between the 1406 and the 1901?
I know the 1901 is a direct Quad replacement but are there advantages with the 1406 carb?

The 1901 is a Quadrajet carb, exactly alike the carbs that came on these trucks new. The 1400-series carbs are squarebore carbs, with the secondaries only being a little bigger than the primaries. They both use metering rods to control fuel. They are both good carbs, but i would rather have the 1406 because it is $200 cheaper.

A divorced choke is the mechanism that makes you choke come on when your engine is cold. It looks kind of like a small tape measure, and sits on the intake manifold right next to the carb. It is attached by a linkage to the choke on the Qjet carb. IMO, a electric choke is WAY better then the divorced style. If you get a Edelbrock Qjet, it would proably be a good idea to get the style for a 80's truck, that has a electric choke on it already. If you get a squarebore, get the electric choke model instead of the manual choke.
