What headers to use Dropped truck
Working on my sons 1969 C10 327 t-400
The truck is lowered and when we pulled the engine it was running full length headers which hang to low. What mid length headers are you using on dropped trucks, other then the 400 sandersons ? Do I have any other choice? Thanks

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
Here are the ones I purchased. They are made by Sanderson headers.

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
Other than a long tube (which is going to hang beneath the frame a bit) you will need to do shorties get a good exhaust guy to weld up you a nice 3 inch crossover right behind the tranny.
I can drop mine almost all the way down with Hooker Long Tubes |

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
Yes I am aware of the sandersons, thought maybe someone else with a dropped truck has used something else.

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
Hedman #69010. New ones made specifically for our trucks, $200 from Jegs, fit great on my bagged 69.

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
I've never run any full length headers that hang below the frame...at least not the straight and lowest part of the frame. Headers for a manual trans are a mystery. I see this asked and never a definitive answer. I've had headers fit with clutch linkage and never gave it a thought, but don't recall exactly what they were. I can say, what you look for is the rear tube on the driver side has to drop straight down if not slightly forward to clear the z-bar. I've had them run directly through (under the z-bar) where the lower arm is. I had to cut the arm off and relocate to one side.

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
They're old 441 heads that have been "opened up" a little

Re: What headers to use Dropped truck
No. None of the 3/4 length/car type headers work with manual trans. The run right through that area. You need headers with the rear tube that runs straight down or slightly forward. Anything that angles back will run right into the clutch linkage. They need to drop down, then run under the linkage to work
