47-53 vs. 54 tailgate fit?
I have a 1952 1/2 ton with a 1954 bed on it (flat rails instead of curved upward). Does anyone know if I can put a 47-53 tailgate on that bed? As in, will the hinges be able to line up, or will there be a lot of fabrication work to do? Has anyone done this before?

Loucks10, they are a whole different tailgate. But I think they might be the same up to 87. That is size wise . But lettering might be different.

Re: 47-53 vs. 54 tailgate fit?
xpickup,
thanks, that's what i'm seeing is that they won't interchange. i found some aftermarket tailgates i like (without the latches) from classic industries. i just wish they made the original chevrolet embossed tailgate without the latches. i'm not completely sold on the bowtie look just quite yet, and the plain tailgate i'm not so sure about either. |

I was wishing the same thing yesterday when I was looking at the Mar-k website. It would look great if they could emboss the Chevrolet logo on one of those taigates instead of the bowtie.
