Was a rearview mirror and option in 68

I've got a early 68 C-10 and there are dimples where the mirror would mount
but no holes. The prior owner had put one of the glue on the windshield types on, didn't think about it untill i had a new windshield installed?
Thanks

Correct, it was still an option in 69 also. 72 was the only year it was on the windshield.

I don't know that this is the reason mirrors were an option. First off, it wasn't law at the time to have a rear view mirror. Second, many people bought these trucks to install a camper or pull a large trailer, so a rear view mirror would have been useless and just in the way.

My '69 did not come with a mirror. A PO installed one of the stick on ones. I removed it and found an original bracket and mirror at the junkyard, drilled my own holes, and mounted it up. Couldn't be more happy. You can also buy one from Brothers

Re: Was a rearview mirror and option in 68

I worked at several GM dealerships in Fla and New England. A sharp truck sales manager or salesmen would use the lack of factory mirror to "Up-Sell" for safety's sake ! We did ! As far as Campers go, you can see just about every kind of contraption was once considered The best side view mirror invented.I still have not put one on my 68, I like the fact it never had one ever.....

Wow, that's crazy. I guess where the trucks were so relatively inexpensive by today's standards, the price to add a mirror or some of the other small stuff may have really made a difference to the dealership and sales people.

I didn't realize you like having no mirror. You mentioned thinking WTF lol

My '68 pick up never had one installed, but it don't have the dimples, either. I went the other way and found a glue-on.

My '67 is what is called a plain Jane, by some. It does have a rear view mirror, but no sun visor on the passenger side.
