Re: small block in a crewcab dually?

If you want to tow and get good mpg then just do a 12 valve swap and never look back....happy with mine and it knocks down 20+ mpg all day long

I would love to do a 12valve swap in just for the cool factor. not feasible just for fuel milage unless you get a killer deal on the motor it's very unlikely you'll ever recoup the investment with milage save'ns.

Re: small block in a crewcab dually?

I bought my whole truck with the Cummins swap already done for 3500 bucks....spent another small fortune making it look like it does now....the deals are still out there just gotta search and get lucky....and a 6.0/4l80 combo from junk yard gonna run you anywhere from 1-2k depending on region/ miles/condition....plus another 650+ for harness, 300 for tune, exhaust, fuel pump ect you gonna be knocking on 3k real fast....if you get lucky you might stumble across a early Cummins truck still running around for same price

I've been follow'n your truck for a while now, you score'd on that one. I agree deal's are out there just harder to find as more and more people do this swap. I want'd to go with a 4BT for a while but there bring'n as much or more than the 6BT's now. I think I'll keep an eye out for a 5.3/4L80 for mine, the weight save'n will help speed up my bag's as well.
