Control arm clearance

Hi guys I have a question. I have a 65 gmc 1/2 ton, and I put a 3 inch drop spindle on the front. I mounted my 15x8 steel factory rally wheels and they seem to just rub the front tip of the lower control arm. Has anyone had this issue? What should I try? Wheel spacers? How about shaving the lip on the lca...will that weaken it?

Re: Control arm clearance

Mine rubbed on the spindle and I had to grind some off the spindle. As for the LCA, I don't think shaving a little will weaken it. Can you post a photo of it?

Re: Control arm clearance

I have exactly the same clearance issue.

There doesn't seem to be many more alternatives than the ones you mentioned:

i) wheel spacers
ii) wheels with less offset
iii) modifying the lower arm itself
iv) modifying the spindle

I'll probably go for i) or iv). Haven't decided yet. Wheel spacers are obviously a fairly simple solution, but, depending on the spacer thickness/offset of the wheels/tire size, it might cause a clearance issue at the fender...
