Nearly every truck I've ever owned it was broken. You can still get them from GM. The part number is 3970833. They call it a LH Control. Around $20.00 I think.

 G.M. USED THE SAME CONTROLS IN 70s & 80S VANS. I'M NOT SURE OF THE EXACT YEARS, BUT THEY USED THEM FOR LIKE 20 YEARS & THEY'RE NOT HARD TO FIND IN JUNK YARDS AT ALL.  JOHN
