whats a swb step bed worth?

a friend of mine has a swb step bed for sell. it has no tailgate or turn signals, the bed wood is junk and it needs a passenger side fender. he is asking $250. does that seem like a fair price? i was thinking more like $125-$150 since it needs some work.

also, this will go on my 68 lwb fleetside after i cut it down to a swb. any mounting problems i should be aware of?

thanks

I can't give you any help on weither or not there will be fitting problems, as I never did a frame cut. I can tell you that the $250 is about average for a short bed, I have seen them for $800 in perfect shape. Good luck with your project, Don.

I paid 100.00 for my last one and it was complete...250.00 sounds high for bedsides, steps and one fender

Lot of it depends on your area. Step beds in this area (if you can find one) typically run arond $200 without the tailgate. Tailgates normally add around 75-80 to that price.

I paid $180 for my 84 step bed no tailgate and rotten bed wood. Cross rails and all were solid though.

I have seen them on the boards from $100 to $400.

New sheetmetal will bring your cost to around $1000 or more.

Yes I think it is a little high, but short of the wood if it is clean it maybe worth it to you. I know just trying to find one in my next of the woods is tough as heck.

I GUESS IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU ARE AT. I'VE SEEN THEM GO FROM $50 TO $750 . IT'S ALL SUPPLY & DEMAND (WHO'D OF EVER THUNK TOWHOOKS WOULD BE FOR SALE FOR $300, & PEOPLE WOULD ACTUALLY BUY THEM) I'VE SEEN FENDERS & STEPS GO FOR $150 EACH ON EBAY. SO WHO CAN SAY. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE GAVE ME ONE FOR FREE, DOESN'T MEEN THEY SHOULD ALL BE FREE CAUSE THAT WHAT THERE WORTH. JOHN
I JUST SOLD A RUSTFREE SHORT FLEET BED , WITH TAILGATE TO A REALLY GOOD FREIND & FELLOW BOARDMEMBER FOR $200 , SO I GUESS THEY'RE ALL WORTH $200
