LS1 - 700r4 overdrive question??

My plans is to do a 99 5.7 LS1 700r4 swap and was wondering about the streering column, the 700r4 has overdrive and I have a 72 tilt steering column my question is would I need some type of overdrive brackets or linkages for the 72 column because Ive been told I would need to put the shifter on the floor which is not what I want to do if I dont have too. Any help or pics would be great.

thanks
