window/glass sash?

Hi gang! While I'm waiting on myself to make a decision on headers (again), I began looking into my door glass for my 59. I had bought the brother's one piece conversion kit before I even knew about this site. It was a half price sale so I don't feel too bad about that purchase.

My truck has the glass in the passenger side, but my drivers side has nothing. I'm finding that I need the glass sash which the glass sits in? and the runner? I have been searching, but can't seem to find the parts mentioned in aftermarket or used. I tried LMC, but they don't have it. I do have the vent frames for both sides to use as the front guides.

So, are parts available?
Thanks always!; )

Re: window/glass sash?

Here is the LMC page for Task Force window hardware just because it was easy to find and has a good breakdown.

Re: window/glass sash?

You are so nice to post that, when I spoke to a person at lmc, the part when it is shadowy looking isn't available. The part that the glass sits in, the sash, isn't available from lmc. How depressing

Re: window/glass sash?

This thread has a lot of good info. Also has places to find the extra parts you will need to make the brothers kit work (i.e. keep the front track in place and from rattleing and the glass falling out of the front vertical track). Look towards the end for the molding and felt ordering.

I am half way thru the conversion, need to order the channel molding and felts too.

Re: window/glass sash?

Hi Denee007. I saw on one of your recent posts that you are having trouble finding the window sash for the drivers door to finish that beautiful truck. I might have what you need in that department. I think that you will be replacing the glass, just need the bottom sash and roller channel. I"m sending a picture and if thats what you need you can have it.

Re: window/glass sash?

Thanks Orrie! That's a great link! Are you moving the rear runner back the 1/2" as they spoke about in the video? Looks easy enough, even for me; ). I'd rather not make the opening larger as per the instructions as the new paint may crack!

Re: window/glass sash?

I just got off the phone with Clarance, or Earl. He's sending me that part of which I was panicking about finding! You meet the nicest people here! If only the rest of the world had the mentality of car/truck enthusiasts, something about our kind, just downright good folk!!! ; )

Re: window/glass sash?

I did not cut the jamb side because I found a post that got it to work without doing that. It looks like you need to move the front channel more towards the hinge side. I got the window tracks modifed, cut my window template then got stalled. It was apparant I will not be able to do the final fit until I get the channel inserts in place so I moved onto wiring. If it does not work, I can always go back and cut out the jamb piece. Looks like you are making good progress.

Re: window/glass sash?

Well, it's too late for me as I've dedicated myself to cutting that part out like Blackdiesel. It wasn't very difficult, but I was lucky on the drivers door as it had no window parts to begin with, however the passenger side has everything in it: (.

Re: window/glass sash?

That's about normal for old GM trucks from what I have found. I have a bunch of AD truck doors that I have collected over the years and most are missing all of the stuff that goes with the windows and I didn't take any of it out myself. Either they get robbed for another rig or guys take them apart and loose interest in the project and sell it and forget to include the window hardware.
