The second thing is that when it is running it dies when I press on the gas unless I get into it pretty hard or pump the gas pedal. This happens in park or while in gear. It idles perfectly. Any ideas?

When I start mine, I pump the gas pedal twice before turning the key, and then sort of lightly tap it as I'm turning the key. If I do this, it usually fires right up. The exception, is when the weather is colder or warmer than when I adjusted the idle on the carb last. Also, don't use premium unleaded. Too rich
